The Shop & Everyday Orders
Where is the shop, and when are you open?
We are at 468 River Street in Mattapan, Boston — The Loop at Mattapan Station. Tuesday to Friday 10–5, Saturday and Sunday 11–4, closed Mondays. Call the shop at 617-615-9133.
Do you deliver?
Yes — throughout the Boston metro area, including Milton, Canton and select surrounding neighborhoods. Delivery fees are based on distance and shown at checkout. Standard delivery runs Wednesday to Friday, noon to 5 pm. We cannot guarantee an exact time, but requests like “morning delivery” are honored when possible. Pickup at 468 River Street is always an option.
What if nobody is home when the flowers arrive?
Weather and security permitting, flowers may be left at the door, with a neighbor, or with building staff. If a redelivery is needed, a second delivery fee may apply. Please double-check the recipient’s address — we cannot be responsible for delays from incorrect or incomplete details, and redelivery for an address error carries an additional charge.
Will my arrangement look exactly like the photo?
Flowers are seasonal, so every arrangement is made with what is freshest that week. To keep the integrity of the design, we may substitute blooms of equal or higher value depending on availability.
Can I add a card or a note?
Yes. Write your message in the note box in your basket before checkout and we will include it with the arrangement.
How do I care for cut flowers?
Trim the stems at an angle, use clean water and a clean vase, refresh the water every other day, and keep the flowers out of direct sun and away from fruit. Most arrangements last a week or more with a little attention.
What about sympathy flowers?
Browse the sympathy collection in the shop, or call us for anything time-sensitive. Sympathy pieces deliver within our regular delivery area, and we will do everything we can to meet a service time.
Returns, Changes & Cancellations
Something is wrong with my flowers. What now?
Flowers are perishable, so all sales are final — but your satisfaction matters. Contact us within 24 hours of delivery about any quality or damage issue and we will replace the item with one of equal or greater value, or offer store credit if a replacement is not possible. Personal preference is not grounds for a return.
Can I cancel or change an everyday order?
More than 24 hours before the scheduled delivery, a 15% restocking fee applies. Within 24 hours of delivery, a 25% refund only. Orders already in process, en route or delivered cannot be canceled or refunded. Email hello@bostonflowerco.com as early as you can.
Can I return a vase or a gift item?
Hard goods — vases, non-perishable gifts, accessories and retail items — can be returned within 5 days of purchase, unused and with proof of purchase, for store credit. Seasonal and holiday items are final sale.
What are the terms for custom event orders?
Custom orders for weddings, corporate and social events require full payment when placed, are non-refundable, and cannot be canceled or changed within 14 days of the event date. Full-service packages are covered by their own agreement. The complete policy is here.
Weddings & Events
Is there a minimum for weddings?
Full-service wedding florals begin at $6,000. During peak season, May through November, floral budgets under the minimum are available for pick-up only, without delivery or setup. Corporate events begin at $1,750.
We are under the minimum — can you still help?
Yes. Our à la carte collection covers bouquets, boutonnières, centerpieces and ceremony pieces you can order from the shop and pick up before the day. Many smaller weddings and elopements are done this way.
How far ahead should we reach out?
As soon as you have a date and a venue. The earlier we talk, the more we can plan around your season and your budget.
What happens after we send an inquiry?
We reply within 24–48 hours to set up a call. From there we build a proposal with palettes, pieces and pricing, and revise it with you until it is right.
Do you travel outside Boston?
We do. We work across New England, and have designed weddings from Newport to Vermont.
Do you handle setup, rentals and teardown?
Yes. Delivery, installation, on-site setup and end-of-night cleanup are part of full-service weddings and events, and we carry vessels, structures and décor for rent.
Workshops
What is included in a workshop?
Everything: the stems, a vessel to take home, tools, and a designer at the front of the room. Classes start at $95 and seat up to 24. Bring your curiosity.
I have never arranged flowers. Is that okay?
That is exactly who the classes are for. Our floral staff walk you through it stem by stem, and no two arrangements leave the room the same — on purpose.
Can we book a private workshop?
Yes. Private sessions are on the Workshops page — birthdays, showers, team outings and community groups. Send an inquiry with your date and headcount.
